Duckett's Grove
A dramatic ruined Gothic mansion east of Carlow town, all turrets and towers since a fire in 1933, with two walled gardens to explore. It's free, with a courtyard audio guide voiced by the people who once lived and worked there, and free guided tours at weekends. The fairytale ruins are a hit with kids, just keep an eye near the old walls. Open daily.
