Seán Mac Diarmada Cottage

Seán Mac Diarmada Cottage

HeritageCo. Leitrim

The whitewashed thatched cottage where Seán Mac Diarmada grew up, the only surviving home of any of the seven signatories of the 1916 Proclamation, kept as it was. It's a lovely, tangible stop for a bit of Irish history, with the cottage and outbuildings to look round, and a heritage centre in Kiltyclogher village tells his story. Tours are guided and groups are small, so book ahead. Best for about 7 and up, though younger ones are fine around the grounds.
