King John's Castle

King John's Castle

Limerick's big riverside castle, right on King's Island by the Shannon. Children can climb the towers and walk the battlements, and the visitor centre has touchscreen exhibits and a courtyard with medieval games to try. There's proper siege history here too, cannonball damage and an undermined tower from a real siege. Best for roughly 5 to 12, but there's plenty to hold older ones.
