Mitchelstown Cave

Mitchelstown Cave

Nature / outdoorsCo. Tipperary

An underground adventure in the Galtee foothills, and despite the name it's in Co. Tipperary. A guide leads you down 88 steps into three huge caverns, past dripping stalactites and stalagmites and a giant column called the Tower of Babel. It's a genuine wild show-cave, cool and dim, so it feels like proper exploring. There are steps and about a kilometre of walking, so it's not for buggies. Guided tours daily, booking advised.
