Rock of Cashel

Rock of Cashel

One of Ireland's most spectacular medieval sites, a hilltop cluster of a round tower, a roofless Gothic cathedral and carved high crosses you can walk among, with sweeping views over the Golden Vale. Cormac's Chapel holds rare 12th-century wall paintings, and the ruins of Hore Abbey sit in the fields below. Guided tours bring the history to life. Plenty of open walking on uneven ground, so good shoes and steady feet. An OPW site in Cashel.
