A fairytale thatched cottage a short walk along the river from Cahir Castle, built around 1810 as an aristocratic playhouse. Rustic timber verandas and tree-trunk pillars outside, hand-painted French wallpaper and a spiral stair within, all shown on a short guided tour. Tours are small, so it pairs nicely with the castle. Best for children happy to look around rather than run about. An OPW site near Cahir.
